This exhibition is part of the national celebration of the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea, a council that affirmed God became human so that humans might be united to God. Icons are a material manifestation of this descent of God to man so that man and all creation might be transfigured, filled with the light of Christ’s divine beauty.
